Former Regal Uxbridge
The glorious interior of the former Regal cinema has seen many changes and has been a night club for many years. However the once delightful 2/6 Compton organ is still there. An early project for our previous incarnation HWS Associates LLP, the project in 2006 was to restore the badly looked after organ console. Unfortunately the pipe chamber contents were not to be included in the works, but at least the console had a new lease of life, as these photos show.
When we found it, the console had been badly painted, soaked in beer and was generally in a sorry state. We completely stripped it to reveal the beautiful polished hard wood construction, remade missing parts, resurfaced all keys and generally made it look pretty again.
Unfortunately there are no plans to restore the entire instrument, but all the pipework and chamber components are still there. We keep in touch with the council about the organ and recently inspected it to make sure it was being looked after.
